6 Days Zanzibar Beach Holiday – Stone Town, Spice Tours & Indian Ocean

Loading available options...

Overview

  • Duration:6 days 5 nights
  • Travelers:1 - 100 guests
  • Tour Type:Daily tour, Package tour
  • Language:English, Swahili

Zanzibar is forty minutes by plane from Nairobi and feels like a different world. The water is warm and turquoise. The beaches are wide and mostly quiet outside peak season. Stone Town is genuinely fascinating — a UNESCO-listed maze of Arab, Persian, Indian, and African architecture built on centuries of trade history.

Five nights is the right amount of time. Enough to do the main experiences properly without filling every day. You'll spend some of it doing nothing in particular, which is entirely the point.

Highlights

  • Safari Blue full-day excursion — sail to Mnemba Atoll, snorkel through coral reefs, fish from the boat, swim with dolphins if they show up, and eat a fresh seafood lunch on a sandbank
  • Stone Town walking tour — the UNESCO-listed heart of Zanzibar City, with its narrow lanes, carved wooden doors, Arab and Persian architecture, and the sobering Slave Trade Museum
  • Spice farm tour — Zanzibar earned the name Spice Island for good reason; walk through working plantations of cloves, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg with a guide who knows what everything is
  • Swimming with turtles at Nungwi — the sea turtle sanctuary on the northern tip of the island lets you get into the water with giant green and hawksbill turtles up close
  • Sunset dhow cruise — a traditional wooden dhow on the Indian Ocean at sunset, with the Zanzibar coastline behind you and enough time to sit quietly and appreciate where you are

Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Zanzibar

Fly from Nairobi to Zanzibar on Safari Link. Personalized meet and greet on arrival. Transfer to your hotel and check in. Spend the afternoon settling in — the beach is right there. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight Zanzibar.

Day 2 – Stone Town & Spice Farm Tour

Morning drive to Stone Town, the historic core of Zanzibar City. Walk the narrow streets with your guide — past the carved wooden doors the city is famous for, through the Darajani Market, past the old Arab Fort, and into the lanes that have barely changed in two centuries. Visit the Slave Trade Museum and the site of the former slave market — a necessary and sobering part of understanding Zanzibar's history. Afternoon spice farm tour through working plantations of cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and black pepper. Guides identify everything by smell and taste, not just signage. Back to the hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3 – Safari Blue Full-Day Excursion

The centrepiece of the trip. Picked up from the hotel in the morning and transferred to the departure point. Sail out toward Mnemba Atoll — one of East Africa's best snorkelling sites — through clear Indian Ocean water. Snorkel through the coral gardens, fish from the boat as you go, and watch for dolphins in the open water. You don't need to know how to swim to join this excursion — shallow reef areas and snorkelling equipment are provided, and guides are in the water with you. Stop at a sandbank for a fresh seafood lunch prepared from the morning's catch. Back to the hotel by late afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Swimming with Turtles | Beach Day

Morning drive north to Nungwi and the sea turtle sanctuary, where green and hawksbill turtles are kept in a natural lagoon open to the sea. Get into the water with them — these are large, unhurried animals that have no particular objection to human company. Afternoon free on Nungwi Beach, consistently ranked among the best beaches in East Africa. Flat, white sand, calm water, and a handful of beach restaurants for lunch at your own cost. Return to your hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Sunset Dhow Cruise | Leisure

Free morning — sleep late, swim, read, or arrange an optional activity. Late afternoon, transfer to the departure point for your sunset dhow cruise on the Indian Ocean. Traditional wooden dhow, the coastline of Zanzibar behind you, the sun going down over the water. Simple and worth every minute. Back to the hotel for your final dinner. Overnight Zanzibar.

Day 6 – Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your Safari Link flight back to Nairobi.
