Afternoon visit to the Adamax Diamond Showroom and the Floreal Shopping Factory, and a stop at Marie Reine de la Paix Chapel on the hilltop above Port Louis with views across the capital and the bay. Full-day private tour of the south — the most varied landscape on the island. Start at Grand Bassin (Ganga Talao), a volcanic crater lake that is Mauritius's most sacred Hindu pilgrimage site. Large statues of Shiva, Ganga, and Hanuman line the approach road. Continue to the Bois Chéri Tea Plantation — a working estate in the southern highlands with guided walks through tea fields and tasting at the end. Afternoon at Chamarel and the Valley of Colours — seven shades of volcanic earth side by side in an open hillside. Entry included. The Indian Ocean highlight of the trip. Speedboat shuttle from the east coast to Île aux Cerfs — a small island sitting in a turquoise lagoon off the coast of Trou d'Eau Douce. Spend the day on white sand beaches, swim in the calm lagoon, or arrange watersports on the island (parasailing, water skiing, glass-bottom boat, at extra cost). Free day with no scheduled activities. The east coast beaches — Belle Mare and Palmar — are some of the calmest and widest on the island and worth a morning if you haven't been.
