Overview

  • Duration:8 days 7 nights
  • Travelers:1 - 100 guests
  • Tour Type:Package tour, Private tour
  • Language:English

Two countries, eight days, and a combined history that spans more than five thousand years. Egypt and Jordan share the same region, the same ancient trade routes, and in some cases the same stories — Moses features heavily in both itineraries. What they don't share is landscape. Egypt is the Nile delta, the Sahara, and the Suez. Jordan is sandstone canyons, Byzantine churches, and the hills above the Dead Sea.

This circuit connects them by land and by ferry across the Red Sea, which is itself worth the crossing.

Highlights

  • Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx — the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World, on the edge of Cairo where the desert meets the city; your guide explains the theories, the scale does the rest
  • Petra, the Rose-Red City — walk the Siq, a narrow sandstone canyon that opens dramatically to reveal the Treasury; a Nabatean city carved from rock in 300 BC and still standing
  • Mount Sinai sunrise climb — an optional early morning ascent to the summit where the Ten Commandments are said to have been revealed, followed by St. Katherine's Monastery at the base
  • Red Sea at Nuweiba — a quiet stretch of the Gulf of Aqaba coastline for an afternoon of swimming in warm, clear water between the Sinai and Saudi Arabian coastlines
  • Madaba Byzantine Mosaics and Mount Nebo — a 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land still on the floor of a working church, and the hilltop where Moses is said to have looked out over the Promised Land

Day 1 – Arrive Cairo

Arrive at Cairo International Airport. Your representative meets you at arrivals and assists through immigration and customs. Transfer to your hotel in Cairo. Check in and overnight.

Day 2 – Cairo: Pyramids, Sphinx & Old Cairo

After breakfast, start with the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx — the only ancient Wonder of the World still standing. Your guide provides context on construction, purpose, and the theories that still generate argument among historians. Stop at a papyrus factory to see how the material was made and used. Afternoon in Old Cairo — the Hanging Church, one of the oldest Christian churches in Egypt, suspended above the gatehouse of a Roman fortress. Dinner and overnight in Cairo.

Day 3 – Cairo to St. Katherine, Sinai

After breakfast, drive east toward the Sinai Peninsula. Cross the Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel beneath the Suez Canal — the crossing that links Africa and Asia — with a possible view of ships transiting between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. Continue through Moses Springs and the palm groves en route to St. Katherine in the Sinai interior. Arrive for dinner and overnight at St. Katherine.

Day 4 – Mount Sinai | St. Katherine's Monastery | Nuweiba

Optional early wake-up for those who want to climb Mount Sinai before dawn — the summit is where the Ten Commandments are said to have been revealed to Moses, and the sunrise from the top is the reason most people make the climb. Descend for breakfast and a visit to St. Katherine's Monastery at the base — one of the oldest continuously inhabited Christian monasteries in the world, dating to the 6th century. Drive south along the Gulf of Aqaba to Nuweiba. Afternoon free for swimming in the Red Sea. Dinner and overnight in Nuweiba.

Day 5 – Nuweiba to Petra via Aqaba Ferry

After breakfast, take the ferry across the Gulf of Aqaba from Nuweiba to Aqaba, Jordan. Cross into Jordan and drive north to Petra. Arrive in time for dinner and overnight in Petra.

Day 6 – Full Day at Petra | Drive to Amman

The centrepiece of the Jordan leg. After breakfast, enter Petra through the Siq — a narrow sandstone canyon that winds for over a kilometre before opening to reveal the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), the most photographed façade in the Middle East. Carved by the Nabateans in 300 BC, Petra is a full ancient city: the Roman Theatre, the Royal Tombs, the Colonnaded Street, and the Cathedral are all accessible on foot. Your guide narrates the history as you walk. Drive to Amman in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

Day 7 – Madaba, Mount Nebo & Amman City Tour

Morning drive south on the King's Highway to Madaba — a town built over layers of Byzantine mosaics, many still being uncovered beneath existing houses. The highlight is the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land on the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, still in its original position after fifteen centuries. Continue to Mount Nebo, ten kilometres west, where Moses is said to have looked out over the Promised Land before his death. The views across the Jordan Valley to the West Bank and Jerusalem are extraordinary on a clear day. Return to Amman for a panoramic city tour. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

Day 8 – Amman | Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for your return flight to Nairobi.
