Morocco is four hours from most of Europe and a direct flight from Nairobi. It has ancient cities that feel genuinely old, a Sahara desert that looks like the ones in films, and food that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. This eight-day circuit covers the country's five imperial cities and adds a night in the Sahara — the full picture of what Morocco offers without rushing through it.

Day 1 – Arrive Casablanca

Arrive at Casablanca Mohamed V Airport. Meet your guide and transfer to the city centre hotel. Review the itinerary on the way. Check in, dinner, and overnight in Casablanca.

Day 2 – Casablanca to Fes (300km)

Morning city tour of Casablanca — the Habbous Quarter, Mohamed V Square, the Anfa residential area, the Ain Diab Corniche, and the exterior of Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and partially built over the Atlantic. Lunch at a local restaurant, then drive northeast to Fes. Check in, dinner, and overnight in Fes.

Day 3 – Full Day in Fes

Full day in the spiritual capital of Morocco. Visit Borj South, the Royal Palace exterior, Bab Boujloud gate, the Nejjarine Fountain, Medersa Bouanania, and the Qaraouiyine Mosque — one of the oldest universities in the world. After lunch, explore the Jewish quarter and the souks. Fes Medina is the kind of place where you get genuinely lost and don't particularly mind. Back to the hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 – Fes to Sahara via Midelt and Erfoud

Drive southeast from Fes through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the cedar forests around Azrou. Stop in Midelt — the apple capital of Morocco — for lunch. Continue through the Ziz Valley and its dramatic palm-lined gorge to Erfoud, gateway to the Sahara. Dinner and overnight near the dunes.

Day 5 – Erg Chebbi Dunes | Sahara Overnight

Morning at Erg Chebbi — the Saharan dune field near Merzouga that rises up to 150 metres and turns deep red in the afternoon light. Camel trek into the dunes at sunset, arriving at a desert camp for dinner under open skies. Overnight in the Sahara.

Day 6 – Sahara to Meknes via Midelt | Volubilis (350km)

Early morning in the dunes before the heat arrives, then drive back north and west. Stop at the Roman ruins of Volubilis — the best-preserved Roman archaeological site in North Africa, with mosaics, triumphal arches, and columns still standing in open countryside. Continue to Meknes for dinner and overnight in the Ismailian capital.

Day 7 – Meknes | Rabat to Marrakech (325km)

Morning in Meknes — Bab Mansour gate, the Medina, and the royal stables. Then drive to Rabat, the administrative capital, for lunch and a brief visit: the Royal Palace exterior, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Hassan Tower. Continue south to Marrakech. Check in, dinner, and overnight.

Day 8 – Full Day Marrakech | Departure

Full day in Marrakech — the Koutoubia Mosque, Bahia Palace, and Saadian Tombs in the morning. Lunch at the hotel. Afternoon through the souks and craftsmen's quarters — carpets, leather, metalwork, ceramics. End at Djemaa el-Fna square as the evening starts and the food stalls open. Dinner at a traditional restaurant with live music and performance. Transfer to Marrakech Menara Airport for your return flight to Nairobi.
